Hong Kong Maritime Week 2025 to lead shipping green transitions

18 November 2025

Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) officially held its opening ceremony on 17 November 2025. Marking its ninth edition, HKMW showcases Hong Kong’s status as a leading Global Maritime Capital with quality maritime services provided by our vibrant maritime cluster under the theme “Navigating to a Greener Future” and the tagline “Propel Hong Kong”.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, said Hong Kong’s role as a stable, reliable and dynamic maritime hub is vital amid profound transformation, noting it has ranked fourth globally as an international shipping centre for six consecutive years. Looking ahead, he expressed determination for Hong Kong to be a premier green maritime fuel‑bunkering centre and a global hub for green maritime fuel trade, and called for collaboration to build green shipping corridors and digital trade lanes, citing the city’s policy support, expertise, strategic vision and commitment.

This year’s HKMW is the first edition following the establishment of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board (HKMPDB) on July 1. To mark this milestone, HKMPDB partnered with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to host the HKMW 2025 X Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference 2025 VIP Luncheon.
