Hong Kong Marime Week (HKMW) is just around the corner! An annual signature
event in the marime industry, HKMW will be held from 19 – 26 November 2017
consisng of nearly 50 events organised by 57 local and overseas organisaons.
As a renowned internaonal marime centre, Hong Kong’s high value-added
marime services are well-developed. At HKMW, mulfarious acvies relang to
professional marime services will be held, covering topics in marime law and arbitraon, ship finance and insurance as
well as ship management. Some latest marime technologies will also be explored by experts in the field. Don’t miss this
great opportunity for professional exchanges and collaboraons with internaonal and local industry luminaries and
praconers!
Besides, there are various fun-filled acvies for all to enjoy. The Watersport Fun Day, Pi’s Adventure in Victoria Harbour,
Tug Boat visits and Family Fun Day are surely not to be missed! Events tailor-made for students and young people are
many, such as School Visits to Hong Kong Marime Museum, Marime Services Training Instute Open Day and Career

To kick off HKMW, an opening ceremony cum orienteering race will be held at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park at 9.00am on
19 November 2017. Against the scenic backdrop of Victoria Harbour, we are honoured to have the presence of
disnguished guests, industry leaders and praconers as well as the parcipaon of over 700 racers to mark this very
special occasion. We look forward to seeing you at HKMW 2017!

Jointly organised by Hong Kong Financial Services
Department Council and Hong Kong Marime and Port
Board, the forum consists of 2 panel discussions with the
topic tle of “Hong Kong’s Marime Leasing Industry:
Issues, Challenges, and Opportunies″ and “Marine
Insurance – Past, Present & Future″. Marime and financial
experts will share their views and insights on the business
opportunies of the shipping-related financial and
insurance services in the marime sector.
The conference will introduce the blockchain concept and
distributed ledger technology to the Hong Kong shipping
community. The innovaon of blockchain technology could
help save billions of cost in the shipping and logiscs
industries. Experts in the field will also examine the legal
implicaons that may arise from the blockchain technology
and smart contract technology, in addion to specific use
on trade documentaon, trade finance, cargo tracking and
provenance.

Event Highlights
The rise of e-commerce has transformed the global retail
business and led to growth in sales in the cross-border
sector. How to gain a compeve edge in the
rapidly-growing e-commerce market? Forum on e-Cargo
Power may shed some lights on this. Speakers of the Forum
will share their knowledge, views and experiences in China,
Hong Kong and overseas markets. Open to public, the
forum will take place at The Hong Kong Polytechnic
University.

Held at the Hong Kong Marime Museum, the Expo will
gather 15 shipping and terary educaonal organisaons
with human resources and industry experts to share
industry informaon, interview ps and seafaring
adventure stories. There will be free admission to the
Museum on 25 and 26 Nov (Sat and Sun)!
“Ready, Set, CODE″! For university students who enjoy
challenge and data analysis, this hackathon is the perfect
plaorm to put creavity into acon. Shipping data will be
provided to parcipang teams to build a business model or
applicaon within 40 hours. Winners will be assessed based
on their creavity and praccability of the business model
created.

The half-day seminar at Hong Kong Producvity
Council by renowned industry leaders and experts will
illustrate the latest technologies in logiscs and the
benefits to the industry stakeholders, which would be
insighul to all of you!
A “HKMW Get-Together Session″ was held by the Hong
Kong Marime and Port Board on 17 October. All the
event organisers were invited to give a brief highlight
on their events. The Session provided a good
networking opportunity for our organisers to get to
know each other.
Mr. David Cheng, Chairman of Promoon and External
Relaons Commiee of Hong Kong Marime and Port
Board, was invited to give a welcoming remark to be
followed by individual presentaon by event
organisers. Refreshments were served aer the
presentaon where organisers were invited to catch
up with each other!
